Tractor Poll

We will put a tractor mural in the boys' room before they are born. I know that some of you have strong connections to a particular brand, so tell me what kind of tractor should be in the mural, and why.

Granddad Spencer was an Oliver man. Grandpa Cummins was a mule man. My dad liked Farmalls. Billy used John Deere, Case, and Allis Chalmers. Granddad Hammond was a Case dealer at one time.

I drove all brands of tractors as a kid (including an 8N Ford), which probably explains why I'm not a farmer now, and developed some opinions.

There's nothing quiet like a bright red Farmall. Lots of farmers plowed lots of acres with those trusty tractors. Besides, how could you not like IHs when the local dealers were named Milton and Mutt Meyers, two gentlemen providing fond memories from my past.

I say go with what's easiest to find in linens and other decorations...which will probably be green, but you never know until you actually start looking.

On the other hand, a red tractor would show up very nicely on a green field in a mural. -Judy

I quizzed the kids:

Audrey said "Blue because it's the color of Sky the Blue Fairy."

Julie said "Tac-tor? Tac-tor?" Then after I listed off a few colors, she said, "Boo?"

Caleb said, "Green because it's the color of a lot of tractors. Or red because it's the color of dc's tractor."

Then Steve said, "Well, maroon, of course."

This is GIGI and after visiting with the two of you on Labor Day and hearing about the tractor decorations I want to add that Aaron's greatgranddad Hammond not only farmed west of Happy, TX, the Case dealership was in Happy. That town name should go a long way on joy, right? Had my camera ready in the car and took not one picture. Would have liked to show Aunt Lisa the chickens. The turken is something. Will check Aaron's blog now. Love, GIGI
